What Is Hydrojetting?
As the name implies, hydro jetting is a way of dismantling and eliminating clog using a jet of water. Our plumber feeds a specialized tool through one of your drain cleanouts, an area installed in your plumbing that allows technicians to have easy access to certain portions of your pipes. The tool is a special nozzle, which has jets both on the front and sides which project a fine stream of water. This nozzle is connected to a pressure washer, which feeds water through to this nozzle at extremely high pressures, sometimes as high as 5,000 PSI or more.
When the machine is turned on, the nozzle on the front of the tool blasts away any clogs or large debris that may have accumulated in your plumbing lines, including even big or seemingly impossible clogs to remove. When the tool reaches the main clog, the water blasts it away as well, opening up the line and allowing it to flow freely again. Meanwhile, the jets along the side of the tool blast away grime, scale, grease, and other debris that may be clinging to the walls of your pipe. Once the clog has been removed and the line cleaned, you’re left with a plumbing line that’s clean and clear.
Hydrojetting can remove all sorts of clogs, including:
- Leftover food & organic matter
- Tree roots
- Sewage clogs
- Small rocks
A hydrojetting service always begins with a video line inspection. With this inspection, our experienced plumbers can closely see what’s going on in your lines and figure out if hydrojetting is a viable option. Hydrojetting isn’t the right choice for everyone, including those who have significant tree root intrusion or those who are showing significant pipe damage that may necessitate a total line replacement.
